MORE THAN FOOTBALL CELEBRATION!2
The #MoreThanFootball Action Weeks are a global campaign for the European football community to showcase the impact of their community and social responsibility programmes.
To coincide with such, Montrose Community Trust are giving away FREE TICKETS to our programme participants for the upcoming Montrose Football Club versus Stenhousemuir FC: The Warriors match on Saturday 23rd March.
The initiative, which is led by the European Football for Development Network (EFDN) and supported by the UEFA Foundation for Children and the European Club Association, provides clubs (and their charitable arms) with an opportunity to promote the ability of football to change lives and communities.
Montrose Community Trust represent Montrose FC as full members of the EFDN and we are looking forward to using the Action Week(s) - from 19th March through to 9th April - to inform the wider public of how our work supports those most in need in our community, such as those who are unemployed, living in isolation, recovering from an addiction, living with a disability and/or suffering from poor mental health, to name just a few areas of our work.
MCT Chief Executive, and EFDN Board Member, Peter Davidson explains the matchday arrangements...
‘We are delighted to be able to issue well over 2000 tickets to MCT programme participants, both young and old, and we hope that many - and in particular those who wouldn’t ordinarily have the opportunity to attend- are able to join us on the day, in celebrating the #MoreThanFootball Action Week(s) and of course, hopefully, cheering Montrose onto a win.
It’s quite fitting that Montrose play Stenhousemuir, another community-focussed football club, and like ourselves, previous winners of the Scottish FA Best Professional Club in the Community Award.
As part of the celebrations on the day, we’ll have flag bearers, and we have also randomly selected 11 mascots to lead the team out, all of whom will represent a different community programme of ours. The youngest confirmed mascot is 1 year-old, with the oldest aged 92.
In addition, supporters will have the opportunity to have their photo taken with the SPFL League 2 Trophy.’’
Montrose Community Trust are very grateful to SPFL League 2 Champions Montrose FC for allowing us to issue so many tickets, for what should be a fantastic occasion.
As education programme partners, we are issuing tickets to pupils in all Montrose Primary Schools, so parents, please look out for them coming home in their bags...and our staff will also be distributing tickets to participants of our extensive range of community programmes, this week and next.
If you are a participant in one or a number of our programmes, and you are concerned that you may not get your hands on a ticket in the next couple of weeks, please contact us via 01674 677582.
