In our second report of the season we bring you the stats behind the headlines and scorelines from our last 4 matches.
Whilst we failed to score in the first half of any league game in Aug we have done so twice now in Sep/Oct.
Unable to keep a clean sheet in Aug we have twice secured a shutout in Sep/Oct.
We took only 2 points from our four games in Aug but have taken 7 from the last four matches.
Winning our last 2 away matches has equalled our total league away wins for the whole of last season (Queens Park & East Stirling).
The 7 points from our last three matches equals our biggest points haul in three games from last season (East Stirling 3-2 (h), Queens Park 1-1 (a), Clyde 2-1 (h) in January).
We are 2 league places higher after 8 games than we were after 4 matches.
After a slow start Gary Fraser has 5 goals in 8 games, a strike rate that if maintained will see him beat his 19 goal total from last season
Finally, if the season had started in Sep we would be joint 2nd with Cowdenbeath on 7 points and Arbroath would be keeping Edinburgh company at the bottom on 3 points each.
So signs of recovery, but a long way still to go.
Keep up the good work boys and C'Mon the Mighty MO!!!
Montrose’s recent victory against Edinburgh City was not only significant as the Club’s first league win of the season, it also marked a career milestone for midfield man Graham Webster.
Having first pulled on a shirt for the Gable Endies on July 27th 2013 away to Elgin City in the Ramsden Cup, Webster made his 100th appearance at Meadowbank Stadium.
Having been signed from Dundee, Graham made his league debut on the 10th August 2013 at home to Stirling Albion where he scored the first of his 20 goals to date for the Links Park club.
Club Chairman John Crawford said, “Everyone at the Club would like to congratulate Graham on this great achievement. He has worked hard in his time here and has established himself as a first team regular and a favourite with the fans.”
