Hibernian 4 Montrose 0

As to be expected a hard day at the office against a strong Premiership side.

Ex-Montrose front men Boyle and Murray were sharp and full of running and the former had the first effort when his snap shot just inside the box left Fleming rooted to the spot and glad to see it rebound off the post.

Minutes later the deadlock was broken when a Stevenson cross found Murray in the middle, who headed home from close range.

Ten minutes later the lead was doubled when Murray dribbled down the left to the byline and and his cutback found his namesake Fraser who fired home.

Fleming had to look sharp when a sclaffed Boyle shot fell to Murray at the back post but the keeper saved well.

Our first attempt came just before the break when isolated front man Templeman's shot from 25 yards was blocked to safety.

Having got our breath back, we started the second half brightly and a Steeves diagonal through ball found Fraser whose first time side foot effort went just wide.

Moments later Murray beat the off side trap but Fleming again saved well with his feet.

Ten minutes into the half the score went to 3 when a Boyle cross found Murray and his header wrong footed Fleming for the striker to grab his second of the match.

Chances were scarce and Watson had our last when he put a 30 yard free kick over the bar.

With the score reflective of our effort, the ref spoiled things by awarding a soft penalty late on against a Webster hand ball and Graham scored from the spot.

A great effort by all who featured, including the youngsters and the 160+ away support.

Onwards and upwards as we look forward to welcoming another Premiership outfit on Tuesday night.
