FFIT START DATE ANNOUNCED!
Links Park Community Trust have announced that this year's Football Fans In Training (FFIT) programme will be launched in February. The men’s programme will be kicking off on Monday 19th if February, with the women’s programme beginning on Wednesday 21st February.
FFIT is described as a "healthy living and weight loss programme" and is fully funded by the Scottish Government, using the latest scientific approaches to combat weight issues across Scotland, through the power of football.
The FREE 13 week programme is specifically designed to cater for both men and women aged 35-65 years of age, with a waist size of at least 38 inches, and/or a BMI of 28 or greater, and is run in partnership with The SPFL Trust through Scottish Government funding, and Montrose Football Club.
Participants will take part in a weekly 90 minute session, delivered by fully trained club coaches, where they will be guided through a 45 minute classroom based session, before taking part in various types of physical activity on the pitch at Links Park Stadium.
Since 2015 LPCT has engaged with 96 participants, losing a combined total of over 400kg in weight, and losing over 500cm off their waists. To put that into perspective, the 400kg in weight lost, is the equivalent weight of 1000 footballs!! And the 500cm lost from the participants waists, is the equivalent of the length of a Volkswagen Beetle!
The programme clearly has undoubted success, and any potential FFIT participants don't need any football playing experience. They don't even need to like football, all they need is a keen interest in becoming healthier.
