DEFENSIVE CONTRACT EXTENSIONS AT LINKS PARK
Gable Endies rear guard Allan Fleming, Iain Campbell and Jordan Millar have all signed contract extensions with the Club keeping them at Links Park until summer 2019.
Keeper Fleming made the move from Angus neighbours Arbroath in 2016 and recently made his 50th appearance for Stewart Petrie’s side. An ever present since the start of September, the 33 year old stopper has been a key factor in this seasons strong start, keeping 12 league clean sheets to date and only missing out last Saturday due to flu.
Having left Forfar Athletic in the summer of 2016, Campbell was brought to Links Park at the start of the following season by then boss Paul Hegarty, initially to provide short term injury cover. However the experienced and versatile defender went on to make 22 appearances for the Gable Endies before leaving the Club last season.
When new boss Petrie faced similar defensive injuries at the start of this term, Campbell returned to provide cover and once again established himself as an ever present in the 25 games since his arrival, interrupted only recently due to a groin strain.
The 32 year old has also proved a dead ball specialist, scored 4 goals this term, one from the penalty spot and 3 direct from free kicks.
20 year old Millar made the permanent move to Links Park in 2016 after completing a season long loan spell from St Johnstone. The stopper has recently returned from a 2 month loan spell with Junior side Lochee Utd and made his 50th appearance for the Gable Endies last Saturday.
Petrie said, “Our defensive record this season has been outstanding and both Allan and Iain have played a massive part in that. They bring great experience and professionalism to the dressing room and it speaks volumes for where the Club is right now that they are prepared to commit their long term futures here.
“Jordan has had to be patient this season due to Fleming’s form and it is great to see him return from loan desperate to fight for his place.
“Overall I am delighted to add all 3 to our ever growing squad for next season, which will give us real stability over the coming months.”
