PETRIE CONTINUES TO BUILD FOR THE FUTURE
Callaghan joined the Gable Endies from Angus neighbours Arbroath in January this year and featured 12 times for Stewart Petrie’s side in the run in to the play offs.
This season, the left sided midfielder has almost been ever-present and is arguably the sides most improved player with a range of impressive performances during which time he has collected 3 Man of the Match awards.
With the 22 years olds current contract up in May next year, Petrie has moved swiftly to extend the youngsters deal.
Allan signed a one year deal at Links Park in the summer following a second successful loan spell from Dundee FC.
The 21 year old defender was first brought to Links Park by Paul Hegarty in 2015 and quickly developed a strong centre back partnership with Grieg Pascazio, before injury cut his season short.
His return at the start of this year coincided with the Club reaching the play offs, and his achievements were recognised with his inclusion twice in the SPFL Team of the Week.
Fast approaching 50 appearances for the Gable Endies, the ex-Dee has this season brought a youthfulness to a solid and vastly experienced central defence alongside Iain Campbell and Sean Dillon.
Petrie said, “This is great news for the Club and I am delighted to be extending both Liam and Matty’s contracts.
“Matty has been very consistent this term and is developing week by week under the guidance of Sean and Iain. Liam is such an improved player from last season and his energy in the middle of the park has been a big factor in our good start to the campaign.
“Both boys are great professionals, they fit in really well in the dressing room and we now have the strong nucleus of a squad for next season along Andrew Steeves, Graham Webster, Ryan Ferguson and Sean Dillon.
