TALKING WITH CJ
It was a good win for Mo last week – the 1-0 win at Berwick kept the Gable Endies on the coattails of league leaders Stirling, who remain five points ahead at the top.
Summer recruit Craig Johnston was the difference last week at Berwick as the ex-Cowdenbeath man notched his first league goal for the club and he explained how he was happy to get off the mark in the league for the team and how tough a three points it was to achieve at Shielfield Park.
He said: “It was a hard-fought game and it is a tough place to go. The boys fought away well. With the goal, Steeves done really well on the outside, turned the boy inside out and put a really good cross in and I just threw myself at it and got my leg to it and it went in.”
Johnston arrived at Links Park over the summer and he opened up on how he has settled in so far.
He explained: “I played against Montrose with Cowdenbeath around December time and I could see there was a good set-up in place. Also, Liam Callaghan is my cousin so I talk to him a lot, and I knew Allan Fleming from Kelty so I knew a few of the boys already.
“I got to a stage when I was at Cowdenbeath that I felt I needed a change – I had been there for six years. I felt like I needed to go somewhere to kick-start myself and get myself going again.
“There is a really good feeling around the place. Even if you talk to the board members and go right down through the dressing room, right down to the kit man everyone is good place just now. It’s healthy – everyone is happy with each other so it’s a good place to be.
“The dressing room is good as well. There are no cliques in it and everyone gets on well. It’s up there with the best dressing rooms I’ve been in.“
