BALLANTYNE RETURNS FOR SECOND LOAN SPELL
Montrose FC have signed Dundee United defender Cammy Ballantyne on a season long loan, bringing the youngster back to Links Park for a second spell.
The 20 year old first joined the Gable Endies on transfer deadline day last August and made 33 appearances, quickly becoming a fans favourite. Brought in by then boss Paul Hegarty, Cammy's performances kicked on and flourished further with the arrival of Stewart Petrie in December, culminating in a call up to the Scotland Under 21 squad in March against Estonia.
Petrie said, "I am absolutely delighted to have secured Cammy,s services for another year. He was a breath of fresh air around the place last year and has great potential.
"Since Dean Brett left the Club, we have been on the lookout for a right back and Cammy is the perfect fit."
Ballantyne left Links Park at the end of last season with both the Young Player of the Year and Supporters Club Player of the Year awards under his arm.
So far this term, Cammy has made all four of Ray McKinnon's BETFRED Cup squads, featuring briefly towards the end of the tangerines tie against Cowdenbeath.
This leaves Petrie missing only another striker to complete his ideal squad with 3 weeks of the transfer window remaining.
