ALL SQUARE IN FIFE FOR MO' 16's
Fife Elite U'16's versus Montrose FC U'16's
Sunday 24th June
Montrose U16s travelled to the Michael Woods Sport Centre in Glenrothes to play Fife Elite on Sunday for what was their the last game before the Summer break.
Our squad went into the game in good form with nine wins, one draw and just one loss in their previous Club Academy Scotland fixtures.
Fife Elite are the second Performance Level team - as part of the new Project Brave league structure - to play against our 16's, and we were well prepared for what was to be a very stern test.
Fife Elite started strongly and opened the scoring in 5 mins with a ball in behind and a clinical finish. Minutes later a similar attack lead to another Fife goal and we found ourselves 2-0 down in 9 minutes.
Arguably against the run of play Montrose had an attack which broke down and Fife played the ball out to the midfield. McDonald won the ball from the Fife Elite midfield and drove forward unleashing a great 35 yard strike low to the keepers right, to take the scoreline to 2-1 after 19 minutes.
Montrose were enjoying more possession, and successive attacks down the flanks finally resulted into a good cross into the box, with the ball falling to Stockton who swept home in the 24th min to make it 2-2.
The balance of the game was now even and flowing end to end, and a lapse in concentration in the 44th min lead to Fife Elite going into the break 3-2 ahead.
As the Mo' chased an equaliser, Walker hit the post, following a through ball from Stockton, and Garnham and Innes both had chances to no avail.
With the game now into added-time, a corner for the away side was headed powerfully into the net, past the Fife keeper, by Cooper who rose above his marker to equalise for the Mighty Mo!

MFC YOUNG 'STARS' RECORD 4-1 WIN
Montrose FC U'16's versus Livingston FC U'16’s
Sunday 17th June
Our U16's hosted Livingston FC under 16’s at Forfar Community Campus on Sunday 17th June, with Livi going into the game as the only team to have defeated our boys in the Club Academy Scotland campaign this season.
The Mighty Mo were keen to make amends for the 6-1 defeat a few weeks ago, and the squad went into the game full of confidence following convincing back to back wins against Elgin City FC and Dundee FC respectively.
Well worked goals from Garnham and Lyle saw MFC lead 2-0 within 15 minutes, with the defence performing well too, thwarting the efforts of Livi who created two very good chances.
Livingston did pull a goal back before the break with the half-time score seeing Montrose leading 2-1.
Into the second half, and Montrose saw a penalty appeal waved away by the referee, but shortly after, strikers Stockton and Garnham combined twice, with each scoring, on 75 minutes and 77 minutes respectively, to stretch the lead to 4-1.
We were able to see out the game, recording an impressive 4-1 victory, a result which means our 16's have now managed to defeat all teams in their section, with just one defeat the only blip in their 2018 Club Academy Scotland campaign thus far.

MASSIVE 35% DISCOUNT OFFER ENDS SUNDAY - DON’T MISS OUT!!

Already extended, this offer must end on Sunday, so please contact the office to secure your ticket or pop down to our Family Fun Day on Sunday.
SEASON TICKETS FROZEN AS GABLE ENDIES ANNOUNCE LEAGUE 1 GATE PRICES
Montrose FC have announced, in line with other Ladbrokes League 1 clubs, that admission prices for the coming season will be: Adults £15, OAP/U16’s £8 and Family £18.
The club also confirmed that Season Tickets prices, launched prior to the Gable Endies securing promotion in April, would remain fixed, and indeed their Early Bird offer of up to 15% discount has been extended until the Club’s Family Fun Day on Sunday 17th June.
Club Vice Chairman Peter Stuart said, “I hope our supporters can appreciate the need for us to alter our gate prices. Being in a higher division will bring increased running costs as we look to compete and consolidate ourselves at this higher level, and therefore we have aligned ourselves with the other Angus clubs.
“As a goodwill gesture, we have extended our Early Bird discount offer on Season Tickets and I hope fans will take advantage of what is now an even better deal.
“Our Manager Stewart Petrie is doing an incredible job for us, and Season Ticket sales provides a vital injection of cash at this crucial time as he looks to complete his squad ahead of the season starting.
The club’s Family Fun Day will take place at Links Park on Sunday 17th June from 12pm-4pm with players, management and the Ladbrokes League 2 trophy all in attendance – a great day out for every Mo fan.
Our photo shows Manager Stewart Petrie, who has already snapped up his Season Ticket bargain.

MONTROSE ROSELEA REACH LINKS PARK GROUNDSHARE AGREEMENT
Montrose FC and Montrose Roselea JFC have agreed a deal that will see the Junior side play their home matches at Links Park for an initial one season trial. Both clubs hope this will extend to a ‘ground’ breaking long-term arrangement, being one of the first between a Junior and Senior side in Scotland.
With links between all clubs in the Angus town becoming stronger, the move makes both commercial sense as well as providing all levels of football with the best possible facilities to develop and progress the game.
Roy Gill, Montrose Roselea General Manager said, “This is a great move forward for both clubs and will provide us with much needed stability for the future.
“Maintaining our current ground, Broomfield Park is a year-round activity, and often we only use it once a fortnight. With very little payback, this makes the upkeep expensive for a small club like ourselves.
“Making use of the fantastic facilities at Links Park will open up the potential for us to do more with our Matchday Hospitality and other fundraising events.”
Roselea President, Stuart Robertson added, “Some of our fans will be naturally concerned, as ground sharing at Links Park has been tried in the past, on what was then a grass pitch back in the 80’s. However, I believe the time is right to try again.
“Like most Junior clubs we have a shrinking Committee with only 5 members today, a third of what we had a decade ago. Myself and Roy hold all the Office Bearer positions and that is not healthy, so we hope this move can attract some new blood to the club.
“We have played three games at Links Park as an experiment over the last two seasons and each time we more than doubled our average gate. When we sat down and looked at the positives it was a no brainer and we are delighted and excited to be making this move.”
John Crawford, Montrose FC Chairman added, “I am really pleased to have reached agreement with Stuart and Roy on this trial deal as I am sure it will create a win-win-win situation for not only ourselves, but also Roselea and the town.
“The community spirit in the town and surrounding area right now is the most positive it has been for many, many years and this deal will simply add to this and strengthen the existing relationship between the two clubs.
“As part of the agreement, the intention is our charitable arm, the Links Park Community Trust will be handed the lease on Broomfield Park for use by Montrose Amateur FC, Montrose Ladies FC and Montrose Youth FC, giving all three clubs possibly the best facilities in Scotland for their level.
Roy commented, “It has taken a bit of work to get to this stage and I would like to thank John and everyone at Montrose FC for their support. I am sure opposing teams will look forward to playing on a great surface in great surroundings – just as long as it doesn’t give them too much of an incentive to beat us! However, our home form at Broomfield Park has been the poorest for a long while, so it may be a stroke of genius moving at this time.”

MONTROSE U16s 4-1 DUNDEE U16s
Our Under 16’s had an emphatic win against top tier opposition Dundee FC last Sunday in what was always going to be tough outing.
Montrose held their own in the early part of the game having most of the possession only to go a goal down in 15 mins from a great Dundee goal worked from the back down the left side and headed into the Montrose net.
Montrose regrouped, stepped up a gear and equalised in 23 mins with both strikers Garnham and Stockton combining for Stockton to score with a great left foot strike.
Montrose went into the half time break 2-1 ahead after a goal from Garnham on 34 mins.
Montrose held their own in the second half continuing to press and win the arial balls. Dundee continued to push for an equaliser but in 73 mins Garnham scored from a great through ball from midfield to make it 3-1.
Showing great perseverance, Garnham won the ball deep in the Dundee half and slotted the ball in the back of the net on 85 mins to make it 4-1 Montrose.
Our Under 16’s host Dundee Celtic in a friendly tonight (Tuesday 12th June) at Links Park - kick off 7.45pm.
They then host Livingston FC on Sunday 17th June in a Club Academy league fixture at Forfar Community Campus on the 3g pitch. 1pm kick off.
