Montrose 1 Queen's Park 6
Injury-Ravaged Montrose suffered a heavy home defeat at the hands of Queen's Park on a cold November evening.
The home side started well, opening the scoring in the sixth minute. A ball to far post was met by Jesse Curran, who sent the ball across goal to ADRIAN MALLAGARAY. He was lucky to see his attempt to control the ball bounce over visiting goalkeeper William Muir and over the line.
Montrose's lead didn't last long, Queen's Park equalising in the 15th minute when PAUL WOODS applied a close-range finish with the home defence posted missing.
A torrid four-minute spell midway through the first half ended the match as a contest, Montrose goalkeeper ROSS SALMON dropping the ball into his own net when he mis-timed his attempt to claim the ball from a corner, then Sean Burns curling a free kick onto the far post from the edge of the box, leaving the unmarked RYAN McGEEVER with the simple task of prodding the ball over the line.
The remainder of the first half so Montrose on the back foot, David Galt shooting into the side netting and Burns having a shot deflected wide.
Queen's Park started the second half in similar fashion, Vincent Berry smashing a 25-yard shot off the post.
The visitors' fourth goal arrived in the 80th minute when a corner was cleared out only as far as PAUL WOODS, his low shot flashing through the crowded box and into the bottom corner.
JAMIE McKERNON made it 5-1 three minutes later when he controlled the ball in the box and smashed a shot over Salmon and into the net.
SEAN BURNS completed the rout two minutes into stoppage time when he crashed a free kick in off Salmon's post from 22 yards out.
