annan athletic 1 montrose 1 (06/05/13)
Montrose Football Club brought season 2013/14 to an end at Galabank on Saturday fighting out a draw with Annan Athletic. In the end Stuart Garden’s side missed out on the end of season play offs by two points with Berwick Rangers taking the final space despite going down to Rangers at Ibrox.
In the end it was the Gable Endies form in the final quarter of the season that lead to their failure to secure a spot having been in the top four since around November.

BALL SPONSORS - A DREAM COMES TRUE FOR…PETE
Peter Booth as a young boy would sit with his Father and Brothers on a Saturday afternoon and they would follow the football and results on the television as many people did. His Father and himself found themselves gradually developing an interest in Montrose FC and started supporting the club from afar and have followed its progress over the years. It was always an intention for both of them to make the trip, but sadly that never happened and Pete’s Father is no longer with us.
Last year Pete suffered ill health and often talked about going to watch Montrose when he retires. However a surprise Christmas present has made the trip possible much sooner than he thought!
Much of Pete’s life has revolved around football. Apart from being a huge fan of Stoke City FC he has played himself as a young man for many years. His Father managed a local team called `Kingsley United`, which Pete and his brothers played for. Once he became too old to play and hung up his boots he became a football manager and over the years has taken charge of various teams. For over 20 years now he has managed a team in his hometown called `Cheadle United` There have been many achievements over the years but winning the prestigious Midlands Sunday Cup Competition with Cheadle United remains to be one of the highlights.
Pete’s two Sons Andrew and Steven, who are 23 and 22, have followed in their Father’s footsteps and they too are dedicated supporters of Stoke City and Montrose. They were only two willing to accompany their Father to make this very special trip.

The players celebrate David Gray's equaliser at Ibrox
