» Kenny Cameron

Kenny Cameron

Kenny was a major signing coup for Alec Stuart in 1974 from Dundee United. He was signed to replace Brian Third (to St Mirren) and Bobby Hutcheon (to Dundee). Kenny did just that establishing himself alongside Bobby Livingstone as a prolific striker. He went on to score 30 goals in 83 plus one substitute appearances and his influence on the 70's successful squad should not be underestimated. He was an obvious successor to Alec as manager and many Montrose players such as Gary Murray, Stuart Beedie etc, owed their emergence to the Cameron coaching structure. Many reckon the club were premature in removing him as manager in 1978 but he can always lay claim to being the boss the night that the Gable Endies came back from 4 - 0 down to dump Raith Rovers 5 - 4 on aggregate in the League cup. Happy Days!
