» John Sheran

John Sheran

John first joined Montrose under Bobby Livingstone in 1978 from Ellon United juniors but a bad leg break suffered in a pre season friendly up North seemed to have ended the then youngsters career.
He was freed later but returned under Ian Stewart from Nairn County in December 1983 to become a pivotal part of the title winning 1984/85 squad.
Playing alongside Les Barr, Chic McLelland, Tony Duffy, Ronnie Cusiter and Ray Charles he played in every game during the championship season.
John played in the famous 1986 win at Tynecastle and turned out 333 plus 2 sub times for the Gable Endies scoring 19 times.
Etched on my memory is John leading supporters round Links Park after the second division title was in May 1985 against Stenhousemuir.
He left Links Park for Australia and came back in 1991 for a third spell with the club. After spells in management in Aberdeen he joined Montrose as assistant to Kevin Drinkell in October 1998.
Now in the dugout, John will be hoping his passion for the club can be reflected on the pitch and in the Dynamo.
