Innes McDonald

Innes Macdonald was one of many players who had two or more spells at Links Park.
He arrived at the club aged 19 in 1981 from Sheffield United but after a couple of seasons at the club he moved on to Highland League side Keith.
Ian Stewart brought him back to Links Park from Keith in 1986 where he was now playing as a winger. He made his return debut in a division one fixture against East Fife at Links Park. After coming on as a substitute he turned a the match and scored a stunning equalising goal.
Innes tremendous form over the next 18 months caught the eye of Gordon McQueen and a fee of £35,000 took him to Airdrieonians. Only after some memorable performances at Tynecastle and Easter Road in the League Cup.
His work continued to take him abroad and when he returned to the country from Italy in 1994 he once again returned to Links Park and played his part in the side that won promotion to division two in 1995. He left the club for the last time in 1998 and last season played for Forfar Athletic before work commitments finally ended his playing days.
Innes remains a popular player in Montrose fans eyes and they recognised his contribution to the club.
