Doug Rougvie

Doug Rougvie was already a legend at Aberdeen before signing for Montrose in May 1990 the same day as Bryan Keith bought the club.
He quickly won over the Mo fans with similar rugged determined performances for Montrose. As co manager with Chic McLelland, he helped secure promotion in his first season scoring an early goal at Dumfries that promotion winning day.He also managed to score for Montrose and Dundee United in a league cup tie at Tannadice! It was a major shock for many when the directors dismissed him and Chic from the dugout. any point to that day as the start of a decline in the clubs fortunes that still affects us to this day. Doug retains a strong affection for the club and has been seen on the Links Park terraces from time to time. After leaving Links Park Doug went on to manage Highland League sides Huntly and Cove Rangers. Two years ago he returned to Links Park to play his part in the David Larter testimonial match against Aberdeen. In his two year spell at the club he made 55 appearances scoring four goals.
